No experience necessary. Course tutors are Helen Mary Skelton, Paulien Gluckman and Jo Sweeting.
Courses are held in the studio of the late John Skelton MBE, sculptor and lettercutter

The studio is situated beneath the South Downs in beautiful countryside.

The sculpture course includes the techniques of direct carving in stone, consideration of form, nature of materials and use and care of tools. The lettercutting course is based upon the simple application of Roman letter forms.
The processes from design through to finishing techniques are included. Individual tuition takes place throughout both courses.

Stone: is available from £3 to 5.50 per kilo depending on variety. Stone, such as Bath and Serpentine, are used for sculpture; and suitable limestones or slate for lettercutting.
All stone is extra. Basic tools are provided. There is a maximum of 15 places.

Please Bring: Drawings, maquettes (sculpture), sketches, sketch book and pencils (hard and soft), ruler and rubber. Also your ideas. Old clothes or overalls and stout shoes are advisable.

Lunch: There are several pubs in a three mile radius – or bring a packed lunch.
